Prebiotin™ Decreases Bad Colon Bacteria

Printable Version  |  Email

The colon is like a huge reservoir filled with large numbers of bacteria. As noted elsewhere, most of these bacteria are our friends and provide many health benefits when they grow and multiply in a vigorous manner.

However, there are bacteria within our colon just waiting to take up residence there that we would rather not have. These bacteria can cause infection within the bowel wall, can produce toxins that badly damage the bowel or can even escape the colon and enter the blood stream where great damage can be done.

While there is no surefire way to prevent these bad bacteria from entering the body, we do know that the colon acts like a contained tube. When certain beneficial bacteria grow and flourish, they occupy a lot of space within the colon. They deprive other bacteria from growing. This, in fact, happens when prebiotic plant fibers are ingested. These feed and nourish the good bacteria within the colon and thereby prevent the bad, nasty bacteria from growing. Prebiotic plant fibers occur in a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and whole grains as well as the inulin and oligofructose in our Prebiotin™ formula.
