Prebiotin™ Improves Bowel Regularity

Bowel regularity can mean different things to different people. To some, it means a soft, easier to pass, bowel movement. To others, it may mean just having a bowel movement every day. Some people would be happy every other day.

Two things are critical in a healthy bowel pattern. One is the stimulus to the colon wall. The colon generally contracts in a pattern that is consistent for each person. To enhance this contraction pattern, stool bulk is important. When stool bulk pushes against the bowel wall, the colon pushes back, contracting and moving things along.

Increased bulk occurs with fiber. Insoluble fiber as in wheat bran simply hangs onto water and provides a softer stool. So does the soluble fiber, psyllium, which contains mucilage, that avidly clings to water. Soluble prebiotic fibers such as oligofructose and inulin produce regularity in a different way. These fibers markedly stimulate the growth of good bacteria and so increase stool bulk by the dramatic increase in the number of good bacteria. A mix of the soluble prebiotic and insoluble fibers as in fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains is best. If you do not get enough of these, by all means, supplement it with our Prebiotin™.
