Prebiotin™ Increased Calcium Absorption

Printable Version  |  Email

Prebiotin™ increases the acidity within the colon and thereby significantly increases the absorption of calcium and magnesium.

Prebiotin™ consists of two prebiotic plant fibers called oligofructose and inulin. Surprisingly, it has been found to significantly increase calcium absorption in the colon. When these fibers are fermented by the good colon bacteria, the acidity in the colon increases. This acidity appears to be the cause of increased calcium absorption.

Some remarkable things have been demonstrated. In young teenagers who took oligofructose enriched inulin for one year, there was significantly increased absorption of calcium. Along with this, even more remarkably, the bone density of these young people increased 20%. Any increase in bone density that can be given to adolescents should be an asset for the rest of the person’s life. It means that the gradual downhill loss of bone mass that occurs with age begins at a higher level and so the person should have stronger bones the rest of his or her life.
