Prebiotin™ Reduces Allergies and Asthma

Printable Version  |  Email

The idea that eating the correct foods can be a factor in reducing allergic conditions is difficult to get your mind around. However, medical research is now showing us just how this may happen in the body. The simplest way to understand it is to see the relationship between allergies such as rashes and asthma and the immune system within the colon.

There is a relationship. The colon has about 60% of the body’s immune defenses. We now know that these start to develop at a very young age, just after birth. When bacteria first arrive in the baby’s intestine, some of these bugs act in a very beneficial way by stimulating a very powerful immune system within the wall of the colon. This, in turn, tends to prevent or reduce the development of allergies.

This has been well-described in infants who, if provided with the right prebiotic plant fibers, have significantly reduced allergies when measured two years later. Oligofructose and inulin, the components in Prebiotin™, along with a healthy and generous mix of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, likely maintain this immune positive stimulus indefinitely through life.
